概要

Alkami Technology sells a cloud-based digital banking platform to American community, regional and super-regional banks and credit unions — the institutions that cannot afford to build their own mobile and web banking software the way the megabanks do. Its Digital Sales & Service Platform bundles three things: the core Digital Banking Platform (the app and website an account holder logs into), Onboarding & Account Opening (added with the March 2025 acquisition of MANTL), and Data & Marketing (built on the 2022 Segmint acquisition). The software is multi-tenant and runs entirely on Amazon Web Services, with more than 300 real-time integrations into core banking systems and third-party fintech providers as of 31 December 2025. At year-end 2025 Alkami served 301 financial institutions on the Digital Banking Platform and over 960 clients in total when counting those buying only ACH Alert, Segmint or MANTL products, covering 22.4 million live registered users. Revenues were $443.6 million in 2025, up 32.9% on 2024, and the company reported a net loss of $47.7 million; it has never been profitable.

収益の仕組み

Alkami is a subscription software business. It signs multi-year contracts with financial institutions — average contract life about 70 months as of 31 December 2025 — and bills mostly per registered user: each client pays a contractual monthly minimum for every licensed product, plus additional fees for registered users and for bill-pay and certain other transactions above that minimum. Pricing is tiered, so the per-user price falls as a bank pushes more of its customers onto digital, which is deliberately designed to make the client market the app itself. SaaS subscription services were 95.0% of total revenues in 2025 (95.6% in 2024); the remainder is implementation and other upfront fees, which are not treated as a separate deliverable and are therefore spread ratably over the initial contract term once the client goes live. Revenue only starts when an institution goes live, and implementation typically takes six to twelve months after a sales cycle of three to twelve months — so a signed deal shows up in reported revenue much later. Growth comes from three places: new institutions, more registered users at existing ones, and cross-selling more of the 36 available products (clients used 16 on average in 2025; cross-sell was 54% of total contract value signed in 2025). Annual recurring revenue from existing digital banking clients reached 115% of the prior year's level as of 31 December 2025.

競争優位性(moat)

スイッチングコスト · 狭い

The durable advantage here is the pain of leaving. Alkami's platform is wired into a bank's core processing system and into dozens of third-party fintech providers — more than 300 integrations as of 31 December 2025 — and getting a new client live takes six to twelve months of implementation work that the client's own staff cannot perform. Contracts run about 70 months on average, and annual recurring revenue from existing digital banking clients grew to 115% of the prior year as of 31 December 2025, which means clients on balance expand rather than leave. The company itself notes in its risk factors that prospects often stay with an incumbent vendor regardless of product quality — a switching-cost dynamic that cuts both ways, since it also protects the core processors Alkami has to displace. The advantage is narrow rather than wide: the company states the market is intensely competitive, that many competitors have larger client bases and far greater financial and R&D resources, and that advances in AI may let institutions build in-house instead of licensing a third-party platform.

需要を左右する要因

中程度の景気循環性

Most of what Alkami bills is recurring and contracted for years ahead — 95.0% of 2025 revenue was SaaS subscriptions on contracts averaging about 70 months — so a recession does not switch the revenue off. What moves with the cycle is the marginal layer: new institutions signing, and the per-user fees banks pay above their contractual minimums, which depend on registered-user growth (up 12.1% in 2025). The company discloses that a downturn in the financial services industry may cause prospects and existing clients to forgo, delay or shrink their spending with it, and that its clients' industry has recently faced liquidity pressure, rapid rate increases and failures. Structurally, demand rests on financial institutions having to keep pace with megabank technology spending — Alkami cites over $45 billion spent on technology by the four largest US banks in 2024 — a pressure that does not disappear in a weak year but whose budget can be deferred.

主なリスク

  • All revenue comes from one industry, which is consolidating — Alkami states it derives all of its revenues from financial institutions, an industry that has faced economic and political uncertainty, liquidity concerns, rapid interest-rate increases, inflation and increased regulation. It warns that clients failing or being acquired — particularly by institutions with in-house banking technology or that use Alkami less — could materially hurt results, that consolidation could reduce the registered-user count it bills on, and that larger merged institutions would have more leverage in price negotiations. Very few new financial institutions are being created.
  • Intense competition from better-resourced rivals — The company describes its market as intensely competitive, with challenges from point-solution vendors, core processing vendors that are well established, and potential new entrants including cloud providers, search providers, social media companies and large software vendors. It acknowledges many competitors have greater name recognition, larger client bases, bigger sales, support and R&D budgets and substantially greater financial resources, and that competitive pressure may force price reductions, lower revenues and gross margins, and loss of market share.
  • A cybersecurity breach would hit a company holding banking data — Alkami's solutions process and store personal information including banking and payment data and social security numbers of its clients' customers and members. The company says it, like other organisations in fintech, is vulnerable to and has experienced cybersecurity attacks, insider threats and other incidents; no attack has had a material impact on operations or financial results to date, but it cannot guarantee that a material incident will not occur. It expects to remain a target because of its position in the financial services industry, and notes that information security risk has risen with new technologies such as AI and with geopolitical events.
  • A history of losses with no date for profitability — Alkami states it has incurred net losses since inception and expects to incur losses for the foreseeable future as it keeps investing in product development and marketing. It says it cannot predict whether or when it will achieve or maintain profitability, that its growth efforts may cost more than expected, and that it may not raise revenues enough to offset rising operating expenses. It adds that its ability to raise capital when needed may be limited or available only on unfavourable terms, and that any debt or equity issued to do so may reduce the value of the common stock.
  • Technological obsolescence, including AI enabling banks to build in-house — The company says its market is characterised by rapid technological change, frequent new product introductions and shifting regulatory requirements, and that the life cycles of its solutions are hard to estimate. New products from competitors or from large financial institutions, or market acceptance of alternatives based on AI and machine learning, could render its solutions obsolete or less effective. It explicitly warns that advances in AI may allow financial institutions to develop solutions internally rather than license a third-party platform such as its own, reducing demand.
  • Dependence on third-party hosting and integrations — Among the risks it summarises, Alkami lists its dependence on data centres operated by third parties and third-party internet hosting providers, its integration with and reliance on third-party software, content and services, and the difficulty of integrating its solutions with the systems its clients already use. Its platform is hosted entirely on Amazon Web Services. Defects, errors or other performance problems in its solutions, and the increasing complexity of client integration and functionality requirements, are separately disclosed risks.
  • Revenue recognition delays make problems visible late — Alkami discloses that it recognises revenue beginning from the live use of the service, so changes in client subscriptions are not immediately apparent in reported operating results. Combined with sales cycles it calls unpredictable, time-consuming and costly, and implementations of six to twelve months, this means both a good and a bad quarter of contracting can be hidden for a year or more. The company also flags that its quarterly and annual results may fluctuate relative to its own expectations and guidance.

顧客集中度

Alkami does not disclose a combined top-customers share, and the filing gives no figure that can be read as one. What it does state is the ceiling: no single client represented more than 5% of total revenues in the year ended 31 December 2025, and for 2025, 2024 and 2023 no client represented more than 10% of revenues, with no client above 10% of accounts receivable at either year-end. The client base is broad — 301 financial institutions on the Digital Banking Platform and over 960 clients in total at year-end 2025 — so revenue is spread thin across many contracts. The concentration that matters here is not one customer but one industry: all revenue comes from US financial institutions.

強気材料

Buyers argue that Alkami sells subscription software into a market that has to buy it: American banks and credit unions cannot match megabank technology budgets — the four largest US banks spent over $45 billion on technology in 2024 — and must rent a platform instead. They point to revenue growth of 32.9% in 2025 to $443.6 million, contracts averaging about 70 months, and annual recurring revenue from existing digital banking clients reaching 115% of the prior year, meaning existing clients on balance spend more each year without a new sale. They emphasise the room left inside the installed base: 36 products are available and clients used 16 on average in 2025, while the 2025 new-client cohort contracted for 19, and cross-sell was 54% of total contract value signed in 2025. They note the client count keeps rising — 236, 272 and 301 platform clients at the end of 2023, 2024 and 2025 — against a stated target market of the top 2,500 US institutions by assets excluding the megabanks, and that the MANTL acquisition added account opening and loan origination, contributing $34.9 million of revenue in 2025 and extending the platform from serving existing account holders to acquiring new ones.

弱気材料

Sellers fear a company that has grown for fifteen years without ever earning a profit: net losses of $62.9 million, $40.8 million and $47.7 million in 2023, 2024 and 2025, with the company stating it expects losses for the foreseeable future and cannot predict whether or when it will be profitable. They note gross margin slipped to 57.8% in 2025 from 58.9% in 2024 even as revenue grew 32.9%, so scale is not obviously translating into operating leverage, and that part of the growth was bought rather than built — MANTL cost an enterprise value of $400 million and contributed $34.9 million of 2025 revenue. They point to the structural exposure the company itself discloses: every dollar of revenue comes from US financial institutions, an industry that is consolidating, where very few new entrants are formed, and where a merged and larger client would have more pricing leverage or might drop the platform outright. They highlight competition from established core processors with far greater resources and, most pointedly, Alkami's own warning that advances in AI may let financial institutions build these solutions internally rather than license a third-party platform. They also note that because revenue is recognised only from go-live after implementations of six to twelve months, a deterioration in bookings would not appear in reported results for a year or more.

Its Banno digital banking suite competes for the same community-bank and credit-union digital front end, with the added leverage of Jack Henry's core processing relationships — exactly the "core processing vendors that also provide digital banking solutions" Alkami's 10-K names as competition.

Q2 Holdings, Inc.QTWO

The closest pure-play rival: a cloud digital banking and account-opening platform sold to the same U.S. community banks and credit unions Alkami targets, and the vendor Alkami most often meets in head-to-head RFPs.

Lumin Digital, Inc.Not tracked

A private, cloud-native digital banking platform built for credit unions and community banks, chasing the same contracts and the same per-user recurring revenue as Alkami.

Fiserv, Inc.FI

A core processor that also sells its own digital banking channel to community banks and credit unions, so it bids against Alkami for the same digital platform budget even when it supplies the underlying core.

Fidelity National Information Services, Inc. (FIS)FIS

Bundles its Digital One online and mobile banking suite with its core banking contracts for U.S. regional and community institutions, competing directly for the digital banking mandate Alkami sells.

Backbase B.V.Not tracked

A private Dutch vendor whose engagement banking platform is pitched to the same U.S. banks and credit unions as a core-agnostic digital front end, the same buying decision Alkami competes for.
