概览

Skyworks designs and manufactures the radio-frequency chips that let a phone or other device send and receive a wireless signal cleanly — filters, amplifiers and switches placed between the antenna and the rest of the electronics. It does not sell finished devices: it sells components that device makers, above all Apple, build into their products, and it also supplies similar chips for cars, Wi-Fi routers, industrial equipment and data centres.

盈利方式

Revenue comes from selling chips per unit shipped, tied directly to how many phones and other devices its customers build and how many Skyworks components go into each one. Because a large share of volume flows through a small number of very large device makers, pricing is negotiated with powerful buyers, and each new phone generation is effectively a fresh competition to keep or grow Skyworks' share of the radio-frequency content inside it.

Radio-frequency chips sold into smartphones, dominated in practice by sales to Apple for the iPhone.

护城河

未发现护城河 · 无

Skyworks holds real engineering expertise in radio-frequency design, but it does not lock in customers the way a software platform would: Apple and other device makers can and do dual-source similar chips from Qorvo, Qualcomm and Broadcom, and negotiate hard on price each generation. Skyworks agreeing to be acquired by Qorvo is itself a sign that scale, not a durable edge held alone, is what the business needs.

需求驱动因素

周期性

Revenue rises and falls with smartphone unit shipments and the broader semiconductor inventory cycle, both of which swing sharply with consumer spending and how much inventory device makers are carrying at a given moment. A slowdown in iPhone sales, or Apple simply working down its own chip inventory, shows up quickly in Skyworks' results even without a change in end demand.

主要风险

  • Heavy dependence on Apple — A single customer, Apple, drives the majority of Mobile segment revenue; any reduction in the content Skyworks supplies per iPhone, or a shift by Apple to more in-house or competing components, would hit results directly.
  • Pending merger with Qorvo — Skyworks has agreed to combine with Qorvo; completion is not guaranteed, carries termination fees up to $298.7 million if the deal falls apart, and will require substantial new debt and a complex integration if it closes.
  • Cyclical, competitive semiconductor market — The radio-frequency chip market is intensely competitive and prone to sharp swings in demand and pricing tied to smartphone cycles and broader inventory corrections across the industry.
  • Manufacturing and supply chain concentration — Skyworks depends on a limited number of internal and third-party manufacturing sites for wafers and assembly; a disruption at any one of them can constrain how much product the company can ship.

客户集中度

Skyworks discloses that Apple, across multiple distributors and contract manufacturers, made up more than 10% of net revenue in fiscal 2025, without stating the exact figure; Apple has historically represented the large majority of Mobile segment revenue.

看多理由

Buyers argue that the planned combination with Qorvo would create a larger, more diversified RF supplier better able to negotiate with device makers, that growth in automotive, data centre and industrial connectivity is reducing reliance on the smartphone cycle, and that Skyworks' engineering position in advanced RF filtering remains hard to match quickly.

看空理由

Sellers fear that dependence on a single customer leaves Skyworks exposed to decisions it does not control, that the Qorvo merger could fall through or prove harder to integrate than expected, and that Mobile revenue keeps facing pressure from smartphone market softness and aggressive customer price negotiations.

Skyworks Solutions (SKWS) Stock Is Trending Overnight: Here's Why

Skyworks Solutions Inc. shares experienced a 3.53% decline in after-hours trading, despite the company surpassing analyst expectations for both revenue and earnings per share. The company reported revenue exceeding estimates by 4.72% and EPS beating projections by a significant 18.56%. This divergence suggests that market sentiment may be influenced by factors beyond immediate financial performance, such as forward guidance, broader market trends, or specific company news not detailed in this report. Investors should monitor future announcements for clarity on the underlying reasons for the stock's negative after-hours movement.

  • 3/11/2026POSITIVE
This $9 Million Institutional Buy Targeted a Semiconductor Stock Down 19% Over the Past Year

An institutional investor has made a significant $9 million purchase of Skyworks Solutions (SWKS) stock, a company specializing in semiconductor products for wireless and analog applications. This strategic buy comes at a time when SWKS shares have experienced a 19% decline over the past year. The substantial investment suggests strong conviction from a major player, potentially signaling an undervalued opportunity or a positive future outlook for the company despite recent market performance. Investors may interpret this as a bullish indicator, prompting a re-evaluation of SWKS's long-term prospects.
